NEW EARNING THRESHOLD: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW by Lethabo Motloba – Legal Assistant Overseen by Johanette Rheeder: Director Introduction On 05 March 2025, the government announced and published in the Government Gazette No.52232, a new national minimum wage and adjustment to the earning threshold under section 6(1) of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 [“BCEA”]. New Earning Threshold The threshold will raise to R261 748.45 (Two Hundred and Sixty-One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-Eight Rand and Forty-Five Cent) per annum, which represents an increase of 2.9% from the previous threshold.
